Trends and Developments in VPNs
Enterprise VPN: Important Trends Shaping the Future of Secure Communication Across Network Boundaries.
Tell us a little about yourself:
My name is Michael Scheiderer, I’m 26 years old and I studied computer science at FAU in Erlangen. I have been working as a software engineer at NCP since I graduated in 2022, making me one of the younger developers. One of my main tasks is developing our Windows clients. I like to spend my free time with friends in nature or in the gym.
My decision was based on several factors, but most importantly, fair pay, the location of the office, and the working atmosphere. In the meantime, I also appreciate the possibility of being able to work from home.
As a software developer, a VPN client is part of my daily work and just as important in my toolbox as an email program, for example. The ability to access internal company data securely is indispensable, especially when working remotely. While new concepts like Zero Trust are gaining traction, they are often meant to complement VPN solutions rather than replace them. That is why modern cloud concepts and VPN solutions from NCP work together superbly in practice and optimize IT security.
A major motivation is the increasing threat of cyber attacks. By working on our clients, I can make a direct contribution to protecting sensitive data and maintaining digital integrity.
The biggest challenge for me as a client developer is to ensure security without compromising the user experience too much IT security is unique in that it requires staying ahead of potential threats and proactively implementing security measures.
Even as a primary school child, I was fascinated by computers and was motivated by my family to explore technology. In high school, I was able to choose computer science for the first time. I already knew before graduating from high school what I wanted to study afterwards. In the course of my studies, it turned out that I liked software development best.
Yes, I actually like to try new things! For example, I recently discovered skiing. Last Saturday, I attended a first aid course to increase the number of first responders at NCP. The next item on the list: Wakeboarding.
Thank you for your time and the interesting interview!
