Tobi's Take on NCP's Sustainability Journey

Episode 7: A Powerful Statement

Hi, everyone!

Today, I want to share a key part of our sustainability strategy – a guiding principle that shapes everything we do. Our sustainability team recognized the need for d a clear, meaningful statement to capture the essence of our approach. After extensive brainstorming and lively discussions, we landed on this:

Sustainable IT security: action today, responsibility for tomorrow.

Let me break down why this phrase matters so much to us. First, “action today.” At NCP, our top priority is protecting our customers and partners from digital threats every day – whether it’s cyberattacks, malware, or attempts to breach sensitive data and IT systems. Cyberattacks are no longer rare events; they’ve become a daily challenge for many businesses. As operations grow more digital and interconnected, strong IT security is essential to success. Attacks can cause downtime, data loss, or extortion, leading to financial damage and lost trust. That’s exactly what we work to prevent. Our comprehensive IT security solutions help companies safeguard their infrastructure effectively and sustainably.

Take critical infrastructure like power plants, water facilities, or hospitals. These rely on secure IT systems to operate safely. If compromised, the consequences can be severe – disrupting public services or even risking lives. Protecting sensitive data from unauthorized access is our responsibility to ensure these vital services keep running smoothly.

Now, the second part: “responsibility for tomorrow.” This looks beyond daily protection to the future. For us, sustainability means more than just today’s challenges. It’s about long-term responsibility – to our customers, employees, society, and the environment. Even in IT security, sustainability plays a vital role.

We continually ask: How can we develop and operate our products more efficiently? How can we further minimize our environmental footprint? How can we create a workplace that is fair, inclusive, and future-focused? One strong example is our software-based VPN solutions, which eliminate the need for additional hardware — reducing both costs and resource consumption. Our team thrives in an environment built on social responsibility, fair working conditions, ongoing development, and genuine collaboration. Diversity, equality, and inclusion are not just values, but essential pillars of our culture — areas I look forward to exploring in future episodes.

To sum it up: “action today” means protecting IT systems quickly, reliably, and at scale every day. “Responsibility for tomorrow” means considering the long-term effects of our actions – environmentally, socially, and economically. Put simply, we want to shape IT security that meets today’s needs without burdening future generations.

This guiding principle is more than a slogan – it’s a promise to our customers, ourselves, and society. I hope this gives you a clear picture of what truley drives us.

Before I wrap up, one last note: We know we’re not perfect when it comes to sustainability. Like many things, it’s a journey, not a destination. But we’re committed to improving step by step.

In upcoming episodes, we’ll dive deeper into the three pillars of our strategy: Environment, Social, and Governance. We’ll start with the environment – sharing the steps NCP is already taking to boost ecological sustainability. I’m excited to have you along for the ride!

See you next time,
